OCTAL NUMBER SYSTEM The base or radix of the octal number system is 8. The eight digits 0, 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, and 7 are octal number system. Since 8 = 23, therefore, an octal number is represented by a group of three bits. For example, 5 is represented by 101 and 7 by 111. | |
